[DRAWINGS] "FIGURAE PHYSICAE" (gilt title on the plates). S.l., [18th c.]. In-18, contemporary speckled tan calf, gilt fillet and title on boards, three-ribbed spine decorated with a repeated gilt fleuron, edges speckled with red (binding rubbed, upper cover missing, corners dull). [60] plates drawn in pen and brown ink with grey wash highlights, framed by bold and thin fillets drawn in the same way, captions in Latin and French An anonymous collection of finely executed scientific figures, probably by a student or a natural history enthusiast. They illustrate a.o.: human senses (cross-section of the cranium, diagrams of the eye, vision, tympanum and ossicles), the circulatory system, cuttings, astronomy with numerous schematic figures (armillary sphere, parallax, systems of Ptolemy, Plato, Copernicus...), lunar cycles, winds (Latin and Dutch names), atmosphere, etc. Most of the figures have a number probably referring to an uncited work. Fresh interior.
