Grand Jean, a mechanic manufacturer domiciled in Boussu, who "warns the coal companies that he is building steam engines of a new invention and flat chains intended especially for the use of mines for the extraction of coal by vertical shafts [...]. Large folio, brown half-percaline, hardback covers (soiled and stained). [4] pp, 13 plates (750 x 550 mm) on double page representing all types of steam engines used in industry: Lenoir's expanded air engine, Bourdon's vertical engine, King's horizontal engine...
