[DRAWING] [After Jacques II de GHEYN ]- Emblem with tondo figure showing Cupid driving an ox-drawn plow, with Latin motto by Hugo Grotius: "Frustra tento oneri me jam subducere : frustra / Jam juga detrectant, quae subere boves". Early 17th century. Pen and brown ink enhanced with watercolor, +/- 13 x 15 cm, laid paper, unsigned. Slight soiling, small angular folds. In a modern glass frame (not unframed). After an engraving by J. de Gheyn (1565-1629) for Daniel Hansius' "Quaeris quid sit amore" (ca 1601).
