After Jacques II de GHEYN - Emblem with tondo figure showing Cupid on a draught horse, with motto in Latin and French: "Mon mal me suit / Quo fugis ah demens? Sequitur te pena, sequitur Iumentum ut scabre pondera dure mole". Early 17th century. Pen and brown ink enhanced with watercolor, +/- 14 x 15 cm, laid paper, unsigned. Slight soiling, small angular folds. In a modern glass frame (not unframed). After an engraving by J. de Gheyn (1565-1629) for Daniel Heinsius' "Quaeris quid sit amore" (ca. 1601).
