[BRUSSELS - ART NOUVEAU] DE PASSE - +/- 200 stained glass ar - Lot 332
[BRUSSELS - ART NOUVEAU] DE PASSE - +/- 200 stained glass art projects, mostly Art Nouveau inspired. Brussels, [ca 1895-1920]. Various sizes, 30 x 25 cm or smaller, pencil, India ink and watercolor, on various papers, a few tracings, a few mounted on cardboard, technical indications in pencil, a few signatures and/or client names, stamps. Sparse wetness, traces of pinning, soiling and/or small marginal tears to a few papers, otherwise good overall condition. Exceptional set of finely to superbly executed sketches and projects for the creation of stained glass windows, doors, etc., mostly in the Art Nouveau style, more rarely in the Art Deco or historicist (Renaissance, Louis XV, Empire) styles. By a little-known Brussels-based workshop identified by various stamps: "Maison de Passe, 43 rue de la Station, Jette - Bruxelles", "Florent de Passe, 8-5 rue du Persil, Bruxelles", "Pour J. De Passe et fils, J.L. de Passe". A bathroom decor project designed by Krit Castermans, some projects signed Vanderheyden, "Th. de M.", "J.V.". Approx. 10 lithographed models, including 1 with "Vitraux G.P. Dagrant" stamp. Rare testimony to the art of stained glass in civil architecture in Brussels at the turn of the 20th century.
