VERNIER Charles VERNIER - Rigolbochomania. Lithographic & choreographic sketches. [Paris], Au Bureau du Charivari, s.d. [ca. 1860]. In-folio, illustrated full yellow paper edition cardboard (copy to be bound, uncoupled plates). Title and 30 lithographed plates in black. Compositions by Vernier lithographed by Destouches (Paris). The title, "Rigolbochomanie" refers to the cancan dancer, Amélie Marguerite Badel (Nancy, 1842 - Bobigny, 1920) who was nicknamed Rigolboche. RIgolboche is a slang word made up of the contraction of the word "rigolo" and the suffix "boche" which designates a joker or a very funny person. Provenance: Jacques Odry library. Strong freckles affecting the title page, marginal freckles affecting the boards.
