ROBIDA
ROBIDA - Saturnin Farandoul's very extraordinary travels. 1st [- 100th] delivery.
S.l.s.n., n.d. [1879]. In-8, brown half-basane, back with four pearly nerves (rubbed back).
800 pp. 50 colour off-text included in the pagination, many black thumbnails in the text. Published in 100 issues.
It is through this "unbridled satire and cordial parody" of the works of Jules Verne that Albert Robida truly enters the career. In these "Extraordinary Journeys", no taboos are respected. Man's supremacy is called into question since Saturnin Farandoul is raised by monkeys. The author castigates warmongering, racism and feminism. During these adventures, Farandoul will cross the continents with Captain Nemo, Phileas Fogg, Michel Strogoff... In this novel, Robida also tackles one of her favourite themes, the concept of imaginary, chemical, bacteriological warfare...
