[Manchoukuo], Manshū Teikoko Seifu Kōtoku 5, [1938]. In-4, string-joined leaves, in cover with title label (small tear to second cover).
[3], [50] leaves. Title printed on grey paper, trilingual preface (Italian, German and English).
Propaganda album illustrated with 50 double-sided plates with 120 photographs depicting daily life in Manchuria. The photos are captioned in Japanese, Italian, German and English. The object of bitter struggles for influence and conflicts from the beginning of the 20th century between Russia and Japan, Manchuria was christened "Manchukuo" (Great Manchuo State of China) on 18 February 1932 by Japan. Only the Axis powers and a few other states recognized this new state between 1932 and 1944. The preface of the album makes no secret about the purpose of this publication: "Manchuokuo is now equipped with everything necessary to be called a modern country. To-day it is evident that strong desire for peace and order is awakening among many countries. United in close friendship with Germany, Italy and Spain under General Franco, Manchoukuo is constantly working under the "Golden Flag of Co-operation" to bring about the realization of peace of the world"
