Clément KONS / CHARMAGUEY - ORIGINAL PROJECTS FROM THE PARIS WORKSHOPS OF CLÉMENT KONS AND CHARMAGUEY : ART DÉCO. Lot of 45 large compositions. 390 x 300 to 470 x 385 mm. Sheet: +/- 560 x 280 mm. In sheets. Among these 45 plates, 31 projects bear the stamp "C K Paris". Except for 4 partially fixed, all of them have been watercolored directly on the support. They are oval or circular in shape. The majority are illustrated with geometrical patterns (squares placed in a decreasing way, lines formed by lines and squares of different colors aligned vertically, squares placed on hatched circles...). Dominant of the black or blue tones with highlights of orange, red or green color. Handwritten mark beginning with the letter "K" on the back of several projects as well on those carrying the seal as on those without seal. Numbers 175 to 182 offer a very nice set of gouaches and watercolors from these Parisian workshops. These works cover the Art Deco period until the 1950s. They combine a great finesse of execution both in the choice of motifs and in the choice of colors. This collection contains projects for wallpaper and furnishing and decorative fabrics and a project for scarves (No. 175). Clément KONS (Mulhouse, 1879 - Paris, 1956), naturalized in 1928, established himself in Paris at that time as a "draftsman for printing on fabrics" at 17, rue Saint Fiacre in the 2nd district. He is listed in the Industrial Directory, under the activity of "Drawings of all kinds for printing on fabrics, silk and cotton. In 1931, his company was transferred to 70 rue de l'Aqueduc in the 10th arrondissement, and the Annuaire Général de l'Industrie et du Commerce mentioned his activity as "Designer for prints on fabrics". Charmaguey, of whom we could not find the trace, probably collaborated with Kons or succeeded him as testifies a project which carries their seal or joint mark.
