AKAROVA - Lot 211
AKAROVA Marguerite ACARIN, known as AKAROVA (SAINT-JOSSE-TEN-NOODE, 1904 - IXELLES, 1999) - Set of 2 autograph scores. S.l.n., n.d. 2 fascicles in-4, 355 x 255 mm, stapled, under pink paper cover with flowers. -1. "The King Steps Forward to Me." Title on front cover. 4 pp. Lyrics and music composed by Akarova, who drew the staves herself. Written on calendar sheets. -2. "Let him come among us." Words and music composed after Geo Librecht. Marguerite Acarin, multidisciplinary artist, whose pseudonym was imagined by her first husband, Marcel-Louis Baugniet (painter, furniture designer and art critic) began her career as a dancer in 1926, after having stopped singing. She began her career as a sculptor in 1938. In 1957, following the closure of her performance hall, she devoted herself mainly to painting and sculpture. Akarova had sculpted or painted her Belgian friends, including Géo Librecht who dedicated a poem to her (in Tribune, Bruxelles, winter 1938-1939, n° 41, p. 8). This probably explains this. If, in the thirties, she gave numerous song recitals, her talents as a composer are hardly known to us. These two autographed scores are therefore a rare testimony.
