Moving letter written during a scientific mission undertaken in Pakistan and Arabia. If he is happy to know that she is in good health, he is saddened to have heard from her only through one of his close friends and that his letters remained unanswered. He talks about the health problems he suffered during his journey. "The city of Muscat... is of an enormous sadness and its climate is most unhealthy...". He set up a laboratory there and formed a "considerable collection" and is thinking of mounting an exhibition of this collection. Finally, he also evokes the publication of "Saint-Cendre". 2 - To Maurice Maindron. Paris, January 13, 1898, 2 pp. in-8, on letterhead of the Revue de Paris (unidentified signature). "M. Calmann Lévy has finished reading the manuscript: you will find him quite willing to publish the volume, where you could restore the passage that had been deleted in the Revue..." Provenance: ex-libris Raoul Simonson. Talvart & Place, XIII, 75, 4 A. A fine copy.
