Hu Zhengyan (c. 1584-1674 CE) was a Chinese artist, engraver and publisher, owner of the Ten Bamboo workshop in Nanjing. He worked in the fields of calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, and seal carving, but was primarily a publisher, producing academic texts as well as accounts of his own work. Hu lived in Nanjing during the transition between the Ming and Qing dynasties. This work is a collection of paper samples, using the gonghua stamp embossing technique to bring out the raised illustrations. Although it is primarily a catalog of decorative stationery, it also contains stationary, plants, landscapes, people, animals, insects, and seal sculptures.
