[TEXTILE] Clément KONS / CHARMAGUEY - ORIGINAL GOUACHE PROJECTS FROM THE PARIS WORKSHOPS OF CLÉMENT KONS AND CHARMAGUEY: Geometric patterns. Together 112 projects. Dimensions support : 325 X 250 mm. In sheets, on vellum. Projects of various shapes (in a circle, trapezoid, rectangular) fixed on a support. 79 have the dry stamp "C K Paris". Dimensions varied: from 65 x 105 to 212 x 140 mm. Among all these projects with varied colors and patterns around the circle, diamond and multiple variations of stripes, we pin a project in black and white designed with a central band formed by a variant of the Star of David arranged between smaller stars; the band is topped by many hexagons. Another, also on a black background, mixes white dots, double fillets of white lines, with a wide band decorated with white lines forming an arrowhead. All the projects are in the connection. TOGETHER 112 PLATES. The numbers 254 to 260 propose a very beautiful set of gouaches and watercolors coming from these Parisian workshops. They combine a great finesse of execution both in the choice of motifs and in the choice of colors. This selection covers the post-war period. Clément KONS (Mulhouse, 1879 - Paris, 1956), naturalized in 1928, established himself in Paris at that time as a "draftsman for printing on fabrics" at 17, rue Saint Fiacre in the 2nd district. He is listed in the Industrial Directory, under the activity of "Drawings of all kinds for printing on fabrics, silk and cotton. In 1931, his company was transferred to 70 rue de l'Aqueduc in the 10th arrondissement, and the Annuaire Général de l'Industrie et du Commerce mentioned his activity as "Designer for prints on fabrics". Charmaguey, of whom we could not find the trace, probably collaborated with Kons or succeeded him as testifies a project which carries their seal or joint mark.
