[TEXTILE] Clément KONS / CHARMAGUEY - ORIGINAL GOUACHE PROJECTS FROM THE PARIS WORKSHOPS OF CLÉMENT KONS AND CHARMAGUEY : Floral or vegetal motifs, sometimes combined with geometric motifs. Set of 50 pieces. Supports of variable dimensions: 320 x 250 mm, 460 x 335 (1), 515 x 370 mm (2). In sheets.v Mock-ups: various dimensions between 53 x 65 mm, for the smallest, to 385 x 305 mm (1) for the largest; either fixed at the corners or in full. 23 mock-ups bear the dry stamp "C K Paris"; one or the other mentions a handwritten quotation in pencil on the back. Some of the models have not been placed on a support. Among these projects, let us point out that of a motif executed on a black background and decorated with flower buds in a declination of blue or brown surrounded by large leaves put in the gouche the same tones (305 x 240 mm, not placed on support). Another evoking the Art Deco, composed of various white flowers, red pistils, intertwining on a brown background (275 x 200 mm, not placed on a stand). Several reasons are drawn in the shape of circle. Small flowers or fruits on a plain background or on a background of stripes, or lines formed by dotted lines or fine squares. Intended for cotton fabrics or various textiles. All these models, 3 excepted, are in the fitting. ATTACHED: - 1 project (335 x 285 mm, subject: oval of 290 x 265 mm) showing white birds holding a branch in their beak, on a black background. - 9 projects of designs for textiles or wallpapers for children. 2 bearing the dry stamp "C K Paris". Dimensions and various forms, fixed on support 325 x 250 mm. TOGETHER 60 PIECES. The numbers 254 to 260 propose a very beautiful set of gouaches and watercolors from these Parisian workshops. They combine a great finesse of execution both in the choice of motifs and in the choice of colors. This selection covers the post-war period. Clément KONS (Mulhouse, 1879 - Paris, 1956), naturalized in 1928, established himself in Paris at that time as a "draftsman for printing on fabrics" at 17, rue Saint Fiacre in the 2nd district. He is listed in the Industrial Directory, under the activity of "Drawings of all kinds for printing on fabrics, silk and cotton. In 1931, his company was transferred to 70 rue de l'Aqueduc in the 10th arrondissement, and the Annuaire Général de l'Industrie et du Commerce mentioned his activity as "Designer for prints on fabrics". Charmaguey, whose trace we could not find, probably collaborated with Kons or succeeded him as testifies a project which carries their seal or joint mark.
