Max ELSKAMP - Six poor man's songs to celebrate the week of Flanders (decorated with woodcuts [sic] by the author). Brussels, printed by Henry Van De Velde for P. Lacomblez, 1895. In-12, publisher's cardboard, ornamented upper board, spine mute, Japanese folded pages, yellow silk bookmark (small stains on the upper board slightly defr., folds of 3 pages cut). First edition illustrated with 33 woodcuts in yellow ochre, including the famous self-portrait in profile at the window which will never be reused. The edition was printed in Uccle on "La Joyeuse", the first private press in Belgium owned by van de Velde. Edition of 159 numbered copies. One of 150 on Chine (n° 139). Some foxing. De Sadeleer, 13.
