WITOLD-K WITOLD LESZEK KACZANOWSKI (WARSAW, 1932 -) - The Crevasses of the Sky. Nine lithographs preceded by a text by Maurice PONS. Paris, Michel Cassé, 1967. 650 x 460 mm, in sheets, in a brown cloth drawstring folder, large title label in the form of a circle on the upper cover. [3] ff. 9 ff. of plates. Each lithograph is justified, signed and dated. Album printed on Arches vellum at 80 numbered copies and 10 offprints. Copy n° 16, signed by the artist, with a letter in Polish, Maurice Pons and the publisher. Some foxing. In 1964, holder of a "scholarship of improvement" he moved to Paris until 1968. During these years, he became friends with Jacques Prévert, Maurice Pons and even Picasso who painted his portrait. He left France for the USA where he lived until 1990, before returning to Poland. In 2007, a major retrospective of his work was held at Sotheby's-Amsterdam.
