[MISSALE INCUNABLE] MISSALE secu[n]du[m] morem sancte Romane Ecclesie. Venice, Johannes Hamman for Nicolaus de Frankfordia, [1 July 1493]. In-8, calf over contemporary beveled wood boards, boards decorated with cold-stamped fillets, roulette and daisy-shaped irons, two brass clasps with leather feet, spine with three double nerves stamped with cold fillets. Some spotting, binding very worn, headpieces missing, spine lacerated, clasp feet and claws missing, last f. printed unbound. [12] ff. 107 ff. [15 ff. on vellum, 1 f. manuscript on paper], ff. 112-140 [= 240 ?], [4 ff. on vellum]. Edition printed in red and black, with a printer's mark on the last page. The colophon with the printer's address is on the verso of f. G5. Ex. entirely rubricated with large initials composed and decorated in red or blue. Incomplete of ff. o4 to o8, replaced by 16 handwritten ff., 15 of which on vellum by an early or even older hand, carefully ruled, composed in brown ink and rubricated in red and blue with a large ornate initials. Another early hand has composed text in Latin, at the end of f. o3 and at the end of the work, beginning on the verso (blank) of the last printed f. and continuing on four vellum ff. This final text, not ruled, is carefully calligraphed in brown, red and blue ink. With a typescript bill (flyleaf) signed Fr. Lyna, chief curator of the Royal Library of Belgium, identifying the typographical mark without having seen the copy. Bibliogr. USTC 998663 (1 ex. in Belgium : Musée Moretus-Plantin).
