Basil HALL - Memoirs and Travels. Volume I [- IV]. Brussels, H. Dumont, 1834. 4 volumes in-12, 155 x 95 mm, bound in contemporary half-havana with corners, smooth spine decorated (spines uniformly faded (upper jaw of T. I cracked at tail). First edition of the French translation given by H. C. de Saint-Michel, published the same year as the Parisian edition, of the memoirs left by Basil Hall (Edinburgh, 1788 - Royal Hospital Haslar, 1844), an officer of the British Navy. He was one of the first Europeans to give a description of Korea. One of the chapters relates his interview with Napoleon at Elba in 1817. Scattered foxing.
