[ARCHIBRAS] L'ARCHIBRAS. Surrealism. Nº 1-[7]. - Lot 268
[ARCHIBRAS] L'ARCHIBRAS. Surrealism. Nº 1-[7]. Paris, Le Terrain Vague, April 1967 - March 1969. 7 issues in-4, issues 4 & 5 in sheets, the others in paperback. Complete series of this magazine edited by Jean Schuster. According to Biro and Passeron, Dictionnaire général du surréalisme et de ses environs, p. 3: "Breton's death had for a time welded the Parisian surrealist group together, and, to respect his wish to replace "La Brèche" with a new magazine, "L'Archibras" was created, borrowing its title from Fourier. The first issue paid tribute to Breton, and featured numerous photographic reproductions of the exhibition "L'écart absolu", with commentary by Joyce Mansour. The magazine opened its pages to non-surrealist writers. Thanks to the amnesty, the issue devoted to May 68 was not prosecuted for offending the Head of State. The dissolution of the group brought the magazine to a halt.
