Dolfi TROST - Librement mécanique. - Lot 274
Dolfi TROST - Librement mécanique. (Paris, on deposit at the Minotaure, 1955). Small in-4° (22,5 x 18 cm) : 60, [1 bl.-1] pp. Paperback. (Edges faded). ORIGINAL EDITION of this rare text by Dolfi Trost (1916-1966), one of the main architects of Romanian Surrealism, alongside Gherasim Luca and Paul Naum. As early as 1940, Trost played an active role in founding the Bucharest Surrealist Group, in a context marked by war and clandestinity. The group's activity was particularly intense between 1945 and 1947, before being brutally interrupted by the establishment of the Stalinist regime. Forced into exile, Trost, Luca and Naum attempted to leave Romania via Israel. A major theoretical break with Luca in 1951 led Trost to move to Paris at the end of that year. There, he joined the Surrealist circle around André Breton, pursuing a radical critical and poetic oeuvre. In Librement mécanique, published in 1955 as a deposit at Minotaure, Trost offers a synthesis of his research into automatism, desire and the mechanisms of subversive thought. This dense, experimental text, on the borderline between poetry and essay, follows in the footsteps of earlier works such as Dialectique de la dialectique (1945, with Luca), while asserting an autonomous voice.
