[VOLTAIRE]- Collection complette des oeuvres [...]]. - Lot 470
[VOLTAIRE]- Collection complette des oeuvres [...]]. Genève, [G. Cramer], 1768-1777. 30 vols. in-4°; 2 front. and 48 plates (text b.c., qqs. slightly browned pp. in all vols., qqs. light russ. marg., pet. worm gallery marg. p. 7 of vol. XIII, hole and/or worm gallery marg. in vol. XXV, spotting in vols. XXVI-XXX, light marg. wetness in vol. XXVII). Contemporary marbled calf, spines gilt with fleurons, red edges (some small defects, some missing or missing headpieces). Good overall condition. Important collective edition of the works, undertaken during the author's lifetime and published progressively as his writings progressed, which explains the dispersal of certain series (e.g. the Mélanges divided between volumes XIV-XVII and XXVII-XXX). According to Bengesco, it contains "very few writings that are not his own". The iconography consists of two frontispieces and forty-eight plates engraved after Gravelot, enriched by a few figures in the text. Without the last fifteen volumes, published in 1796 and including the Correspondance. Ref. Bengesco 2137. - Voltaire à la Bibliothèque nationale, 141. Prov. Joseph Arnoult (ms. mention). - "Ode sur Mr. de Voltaire" handwritten by Abbé de La Loutière, 1779 (2 pp. on 2 columns) in vol. I.
