[PHOTOGRAPHY - APPARATUS] - Lancasters' "Condenser" Enlarger - Lot 169
[PHOTOGRAPHY - APPARATUS] - Lancasters' "Condenser" Enlarger. Birmingham, Lancaster & Son, Ld., [ca 1905-1910]. Wood, brass, black-painted sheet metal, leather bellows, 2 glass lenses, wooden cliché holder and removable gas spout. Wooden base: 30 x 12.5 x 18 cm; overall length with brass lens: 38 cm, with movable light chamber extended to max. 48 cm; height with light chamber chimney: 31 cm. Fine condition. A "magic lantern" type projector also used as a photographic enlarger to produce large-format prints. It features two-lens capacitor lights. Some models are equipped for candlelight or light bulb illumination, while ours has an adjustable light spout with a gas hose connection. It appears to be complete, except perhaps for a button to pull out the sliding light chamber. The "Optimus" lenses are present and apparently in good condition.
