[BOTANICS] Important lot of antique floral plates, XVIIIᵉ-XXᵉ century. Important decorative and documentary set devoted to floral iconography, comprising around 69 pieces in various formats and techniques: etchings, etchings, lithographs, watercolor-enhanced plates and color prints. The heart of the lot is a fine set of twelve engraved flower plates, mainly in sanguine or color, by or after Carle, Roubillac, Bonnet and Sallambier. Several belong to late XVIIIᵉ century flower notebooks, including the XVIIIᵉ Cahier de fleurs, leaves from the 3ᵉ, 4ᵉ and 7ᵉ Cahier, with engraved mentions such as Carle del., Carle inv., Roubillac sculp., Roubillac del. et sculp., Bonnet direxit or Sallambier delin. Some include technical indications for coloring. Attached is a plate by Johann Wilhelm Weinmann, Cereus minimus serpens Americanus, pl. 354 of the Phytanthoza Iconographia, Regensburg, c. 1737-1745, etching enhanced with watercolor, depicting a cactus with a large nocturnal flower; copy trimmed or partially cut. Also included is a floral watercolor on laid paper, probably signed "H. B. Knip fecit", depicting large compound flowers, as well as nine black plates, including three large lithographs engraved by Alexandre Chaponnier or Lambert jeune after P. Bessa, an etching engraved by Le Grand after De Heen, an etching engraved by Dien le jeune after Prévost le jeune, two lithographs by P.-F. Le Grand after G. Van Spaendonck, an older unsigned plate and another floral plate from the XIXᵉ century. The set is completed by 45 color plates from XIXᵉ century works, of various sizes, depicting flowers and some fruit, some faded. Finally, there is a very large decorative lithograph after Joseph Nigg, Bouquet de fleurs, late print circa 1940, published by Fernand Mourlot, approx. 770 × 660 mm. Various subjects: bouquets, roses, irises, lilacs, hydrangeas, geraniums, daisy queens, mixed flowers, cactus, fruits and floral compositions. Various conditions: foxing, creases, soiling, marginal tears or tears, marks of handling, some plates matted, some leaves faded. A fine set of floral plates, combining decorative models, ornamental botany and large lithographic compositions.
